The Westchester Village Homeowner Association would like to wish all of our residents a safe and prosperous new year. Welcome to 2017!
Please remember that this is the season which historically sees an increase in local car and home invasions. The Bloomfield Township Police Department reminds us that it is always prudent, but especially now, to empty our cars of valuables and lock them, preferably in our garages. Always keep your garage doors closed.
Also, remember to set home security systems when at home or away. And, if you are expecting packages from USPS, UPS or FedEx – don’t let them sit on the porch!
The Westchester Village HOA Board of Directors will not be meeting in December. Our next Board meeting will be on January 17th, 2017. As always, all residents are welcome to attend. If you have specific topics to discuss, please let us know in advance so that we can get them onto the agenda.
We have been notified by the Township that due to the extreme weather conditions all residential trash pickup will be delayed by one (1) day. This means that the trash collection for Westchester Village will be Saturday, December 17th.
It is expected that (with normal weather conditions) the regular schedule of Friday collection will resume next week. Please remember that trash may not be placed at the curb more than 12 hours in advance of expected collection.
Note too, this is the LAST WEEK for regular yard waste collection until next March. Christmas trees will be collected for a few weeks after the 25th.
Tonight the city of Birmingham will be kicking off the holiday season with a tree lighting in Shain Park, on Merrill Street in the downtown district. The festivities will commence at 6PM.
Immediately following the tree lighting, Santa’s workshop will open to welcome children. Photos with Santa can be a fun activity for you and your children.
Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families. Return home safely if you are at Grammas House.
We had a great meeting last night regarding a Special Assessment District to finance road resurfacing throughout most of Westchester Village. It was well attended, and the Board would like to thank all of you who showed up! For those who couldn’t make it, here are the Meeting Minutes.
With us at the meeting were representatives from Bloomfield Township. They helped to explain the process for financing road resurfacing through the Township. (Thanks again, Leo and crew…) We had hoped to have someone from the County as well, but he was a late scratch. Still, it seemed to be full of great questions and answers. Residents shared their knowledge and concerns.
The Township had a couple handouts for us. The first shows the steps for Creating an SAD and includes the estimated costs for our specific SAD. The second includes Frequently Asked Questions that others have asked about these types of projects. We should all become familiar with both. An unofficial show of hands was overwhelmingly in favor of accepting the Township’s offer in terms of financing the project. But, there is still much more to do.
A Road Resurfacing Committee has been organized to begin the task of determining the petition, and then gathering the signatures of those in favor. More information will follow as it becomes available.
